when was the last time you saw an AMD processor hit 6ghz? when was the last time you saw an Intel processor hit 6ghz??? the fact that this is being done with only dry ice and a normal, mainstream mobo means that for normal overclocking on the same mobo type or a better mobo ie Rampage Extreme for Intel but the AMD version / calibre means that the OCs will likely be pretty darn high - around the level we see for C2D / C2Q at the moment, or higher.. even for a suicide run that is extremely impressive. add to that faster performance than Phenom 1 and probably C2D for a lower price than i7 means AMD could probably have pulled another 48xx out of their hats. oh, and it's 6ghz on a QUAD CORE processor.

I'm right there with you on not counting the chickens.....I've been around too long to see way too many pieces of hardware and games not live up to the hype. Anyone remember BattleCruiser 3000 A. D. ? Epitome of epic fail.

![]() I guess out of all my rather long ramblings its all about not counting your eggs. It just seemed people are planning this party not knowing who the "guest of honor" even is. (if you see the correlation) Especially with AMD, we need to reserve our commendation until a decent product comes out...not just one that hits a high Ghz. Lord knows, there have been MANY MANY MANY iterations of chips hit that high, especially when being super cooled.

People need to remember this is a chip running on an old motherboard with cheap DDR2 memory. This isn't an $1100 Intel chip on a $450 Intel motherboard with a $175 memory kit.

Although it is making me skeptical, all this hype, I do think AMD will live up to the hype and release a good chip for those of us who can't afford a AU$500 Motherboard, AU$600 CPU and AU$300 worth of RAM for Nehalem. (Gigabyte GA-X58-UD5, Core i7 920 and some corsiar RAM)

6ghz on LN2
Realistically it's much lower Low-Mid 4ghz tops on air cooling, I'm thinking
