This is good enough for me. I think it's pretty safe to say that it will beat C2D/C2Q but whether it'll beat i7 or not, I really don't care. What I care about is that AMD though went through hell and still undergoing some struggles, they're prevailing, doing something about it. I care about when AMD puts pressure on Intel to lower their ridiculous pricing.

And btw, based on my past experiences and the massive amount of threads I've seen around...Intel chips are much more fragile than AMD's. I've used A64 3200+ 754, X2 4200, X2 5000, X2 6000 and overvolted all of them for long periods of time. None of them ever failed let alone die on me. And never any bit of degradation problem. But my experiences with E6400, E8400, E8500 and E8600, umm....Well, the E6400 would overheat and crash @ 3.5GHz with 1.435v on P35; degradation with E8400 & E8500. After feeding 1.40v+ on both trying to find max OC, they began to need more and more volt to even stay stable at stock clocks. And the E8600? Died during 3DMark06 2nd CPU test @ 4.76GHz with 1.5125v, just died completely. Don't even try to tell me that I just got bad chips....if you've read enough threads you'll see there are a little too many people with dead C2D's, namely the Wolfdales.

I agree, my Athlon XP is still kicking while I've seen a lot of Pentium 4's from the same era die way before, neither of which had been over-volted.

Still have a Athon XP 2500 overclocked to a 3200 since I got it. It's in my parents computer. Ahh my first computer build.

I am really excited about the new Phenom II. My next build will most likely be a Phenom II but I still waiting for the benchmarks.

Side note: In one the physics labs I worked in we had a hydrogen evaporation chamber that could get down to 4K. First thing I said was "I wonder if you could adapt it for a CPU?"
