Sounds really good. But in all seriousness we gotta wait for the NDA to lift and some comprehensive reviews to surface to fully gauge this comeback.
Go AMD!

But you did

If you have a problem with someone who tells it like it is then thats your problem.

Dry Ice on a proc means nothing to 99.9% of people. Its what happens in the real world in REAL WORLD applications that matters.

Everything for the past 3 years has looked good on paper for AMD...its jus too bad it doesn't turn out as good in the 'real world'.

QFT.

No need to knock off the overclock-ability of a chip that doesn't SUCK like that fancy Intel. Hint hint: Pentium 4.

The Apple kids would be Intel, unknowingly to most of them though, so let's go beat em' up .

Update: The Phenom II reached WELL over 5.x GHz (read: REALLY over) at 1.9v on liquid nitrogen (boiling point -321F/-196C at 1 atm). Testing looks to have been done on a Gigabyte 790GX motherboard that is currently available.
That is what i like to hear.

This is unimpressive.
I doubt you were posting to spark some real intelligent convo but I'll bite:

1. The new Phenom II's are faster, clock for clock, than the old Phenoms so there goes your idea right there.

2. A lot of the older AMD chips had a cold bug that didnt allow the record overclocking like you see now. Not having a cold bug just means the ceiling has been removed for overclocking

3. This IS a real world performance. The only thing that remains to be seen is how well the average user can OC, but this is a good step forward.
