News Thread - "Reposts"

While we're sure everyone who posts news will always use the Search function to check if the item they are posting has been posted before, some will still slip through the cracks due to titles being taken from articles as opposed to their actual content, or similar.

If a repost is made, please report the post. A single post in the thread can be made commenting that it is a repost, and including a link, but nothing more than this is required - this should be one post per thread, not per user.

From now on, anyone seen to be making inappropriate comments about reposts or being rude to posters will result in users being warned or given an infraction. (based on previous warning/infraction history)

Do not insult people who follow this sticky - they are just following the rules as we request and making our (the News Staff) jobs easier

If you have the same story with a different post, it is not worthy of a new thread. Post your source and quote in the existing thread - one thread per story, not per source.

Many of you seem to be forgetting this:

The 15-20 seconds it takes searching for existing threads is far less than the time it takes a moderator to open the report, go into the thread, eventually search for the repost if a link wasn't provided in the report, and then merge the 2 threads.
Not to mention that you have to format the post first, if you search BEFORE formatting the post, you're actually saving a lot of time yourself as reposts tend to get deleted.

So please, search before posting, if you don't you are being disrespectful to your members and your moderators. Yes, reposts DO happen, and that is why we will not warn or infract anyone doing it.

This may be a minor thing, but when reporting a repost, please include a link to the original thread. It severely reduces the time moderators spend going through the queue of reported posts.
