Battery powered cars take ages to charge up, have a very limited mileage and weigh a lot lol.
I saw a show about a guy from my home town, who reconstructed an old russian car Pobeda(a classical car =]) and it took only a night to recharge it. Weighted 1,5 tons and was very quick with a max speed of 90 mph.

More of the big names are getting into battery tech and I can only see this as a good thing. Battery technology and production can simply not meet current demand, nevermind the increases that it will take to put a significant number of electric cars on the road.

This makes me think of the last Top Gear, I was suprised to see a honda with a hydrogen fuel cell, but the battery powered car they had at the start (cant remember the name) was pretty good, looked nice, was pretty fast. Just a shame it only lasted 55 miles lol.

That will be the case if Obama invests into the infrastructure to get gas stations to carry hydrogen gas, but as it stands now electric vehicles are easier to make power stations for AND they're more efficient than hydrogen for the simple fact that you're skipping the hydrogen production.

The technology for the electric vehicle has been around for decades, we just need someone to take the current battery technology and make it more efficient for an EV application.
