Definitely far from dead. As we speak, Korean electronic engineers are actually making the li-ion laptop battery that holds 7x more power (by changing some materials in them).

li-ion is dead. RC cars are all Li-po now
![]() But the ones I am watching are the air powered cars. They seem much better as a way of storing power. Much less explosions than fuel cells or batteries.

for all those hydrogen fanboys i suggest you think twice.
A hydrogen fuel cell is just another type of battery with an added middleman. first you make the hydrogen by: high voltage electricity is run through two platinum electrodes in water that separates the water into h2 an o molecules. This is then pressurized and chilled to turn the gas into a liquid. all of this requires putting in electricity produced from coal plants. the delivery system: have to ship the hydrogen fuel by truck which wastes more gasoline. finally the car: pass the hydrogen plus oxygen back through a platinum membrane which generates electricity. so like a battery you put in energy to get it back out. Yes a battery takes overnight to charge but it eliminates all the middleman steps involved with hydrogen. |

I just want to know why all super fuel efficient vehicles have to be ridiculously expensive and (pardon my french) the gayest looking cars ever.
Prius? Geo Metro? Why can't I have a GTO with hybrid tech in it? Or a nice LoneStar Edition Dodge Ram 4X4 with hybrid tech in it? Is there not enough room in a full size truck? OH you can only give me 30 mpg in the truck instead of your eGo friendly 90 mpg so you can't(wont) do it? Just leave me with 15 mpg on the highway...going downhill...with a high tailwind...thanks? It's fustrating to say the least.

nobody seems to realize after all the hype, that electric or hydrogen cars are still powered by fossil fuels from refineries or power stations. It just moves the pollution to localized point sources but doesn't remove the need for fossil fuels. (The benefit of EVs may be a savings in power transmission, since we won't need tankers to distribute the fossil fuels to fueling stations). |

the tesla roadster comes to mind when you wanna see realworld results, 1000ft/lb motor ,range of 250+ ,top speed of 100mph+ and charges in 3 hours {im pretty sure}
