Well if you want to get technical there is waste in producing any product whether it be bad good or indifferent. The initial production wont be clean because the energy used to produce it is not clean, and even if it were there would still be some scrap parts and chemicals and materials used in the process that are not clean.

It takes 16 hours to charge IIRC, and from what top gear said on their show, it only lasts 55 miles, not the 200 the manufacturers claim.

I think the whole concept of the battery currently needs to be replaced. Try something totally new.
