The i7 easily wins it at those resolutions, BUT

CPU's seem to matter more in high-resolution high-test gaming than they used to. And quite often that difference boils down to raw clock speed, regardless of architecture. Look at the Guru3D and Hexus reviews and you'll see that i7 falls in line with the others (and behind even, at stock speed) when the load gets cranked up.

If phenom II didn't clock well, it would be screwed right now.

Oh cool, the update has been released already?

Oh, hey I found this:

http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en-us/...M2/AMDAM3.html

Did you install that yet? It's pretty old. I'm kinda nervous.

Yes, it is the November BIOS on Biostars site.

BTW I got some things ironed out and the errors are only minor now.

I'm surprised it doesn't ship with the November Bios. Maybe I should use my existing Athlon in that board to update the bios, if th Phenom 2 can't boot.

The Phenom 2 will at least boot out of the box right?

Yes but the Phenom 2 overclocks so easily and for a mere $275 it is available with an unlocked multi. We cannot say the same thing for intel.

It seems to me that the reason Phenom 2 is a smarter buy is only because it overclocks so painlessly.

By all means, Correct me if I am wrong.
