You are wrong.
Even the Northwood & Presscott Pentium 4 chips were slower Clock for Clock against Pentium 3 CPUs.

The reason Pentium 4's were so fast, and able to OC to 4ghz with ease was to make up for their lack in efficiency.

This is also why Socket A lasted so long. They were very efficient and could clock fast. So they were faster than the Intel Chips.

What the heck are you talking about?
2 cores means two cores, not one core and hyperthreading.
What i7 will see is 8 threads not 8 cores.

Yes that is what we are saying because it's true. The biggest reason for this is the super high 20 stage pipeline of Willamette and Northwood. For Prescott Intel increased it again to an astonishing 31 stage pipeline. This is why Northwood is faster clock for clock than Prescott in cases where the extra L2 cache doesn't overcome the higher stage pipeline. The P3 has only a 10 stage pipeline. By the way, there was no P4 1GHz. They must have underclocked it in that review to show the clock for clock comparison. I believe the lowest model P4 was 1.3GHz.
