He's a sales person mate, not a psychic. At that point you should have just told him you build pc's as a hobby instead of being an ass. Say what you want, but it is a good computer, just because it isn't as 1337 as yours it doesn't make it crap.

I can't believe something at this price point wasn't stress tested enough to find that wire insulation was too weak. When you are paying this much for a PC, you don't want it to break due to poor quality components. That's bad for your reputation.

I like Acer, their monitors haven't given me any troubles at all. Their Aspire computers also look great, even though they aren't GTX 295's with i7 965's loaded in them. They're good OEM computers, much better than Dell, Gateway, HP, etc.

LOL, my thoughts exactly... I wonder if they were trying to say "fire hazard" in a very polite and non-panicked manner. They probably wanted to say, "hey you *******, your computer will catch on fire because of the crappy insulation and airflow we built into this computer."

I think the case is actually kinda catchy--I remember way back when when they were coming out. I would never use a case like that, but it's definitely flashy.

Wow, what a black mark for Acer, despite what many people say, Acer is actually a good company. They offer a very nice product for a more than reasonable price point, and they keep the big boys prices in check.

It would be nice to remember that before dissing them too much.
What I meant was that I would personally not describe a potential short as overheating. Yes, it can cause a fire, and fire is usually synonomous with heat, but that is different than saying something overheats.

You really have to give Acer props on the recall, though. They initiated the recall for free repair after only TWO reports. Two reports, and they are going to fix both SKUs.

Maybe some of you are too young to realize, but Acer has been around since the dinosaurs roamed the planet. Obviously their business ethics have clinched a spot in the OEM world that would be blasphemy if relinquished.
