Computer labs at the university i go to are usually at 80% capacity with no signs of change.

They wont get rid of those labs for another 10 years......the school has enough trouble getting sufficient licences as it is

Although I have a PC at home (no laptop) I believe that the computer lab is the ideal place to work on a project as a team or to work in good company. I go there quite often (plus our lab has q6600 with 4 gb ram running xp sp3 ^_^ )

That is the most poorly written article that I have read in a long time.

Free $10 software?
What if I'm one of the unfortunate ones that owns a desktop instead of a laptop?
How about the 10% of students who don't own printers?
Is it possible that the "niche software" used by 5% might be financially out of reach for most students and that it might be used by the more advanced students as well?
Not to mention the poor syntax of the article as a whole.

Never going to happen. Way to many student use those labs to get rid of them. The biggest thing that a lab provides is the printing. Rushing to class and forgot that essay due in 15 min? Off to lab to print from USB drive.

Well, here's a bit of logic for you. If 99.9% of them have a laptop, how did they poll it? Via internet... I don't want to end the rest of the statement, I just woke up and I will be wrong anyways.
