I wouldn't say the greatest, there still is the laser hard drive that suppose to be out in 3-5 years. 1tb/s and nearly latency less something like 2 picoseconds from what i heard.

None the less if the price is right this will be probably the biggest jump in hard drive technology in how many years? 40? 50 ? 60? lol i mean you relay cant count ssd's as a jump because of the prices and the thought that mlc nand sucks.

I've never heard of this laser HD technology. That actually sounds pretty impressive.

It needs to be fast however as the exponential expansion of SSDs, combined with their continual performance gains and ever dropping prices could otherwise have the HRD beaten before it gets out the door...

wow pretty good but too bad ssd's are still the future. Why couldn't this have came out 5years ago?

Well, the problem with SSDs are the poor ability to write data, or write data from multiple sources (for the most part). These drives would be fantastic at that. If they get a 32gb model out the door quick enough they might be able to catch up.

I can see this being another HD DVD vs Blu Ray or Beta vs VHS.

One will eventually lose out.
