Interesting, although I'm still not quite sure how it works based on what I've read.

So it uses standard platter technology? Do current platters store information on both sides? If not, then they're going to need to tweek the manufacturing process, so another hurdle there.

The entire platter moves so the heads don't? What happens if data needs to be retrieved from one sector while the platter is moving in another direction for another sector that is being read simultaneously?

If the heads are lithographed, does that mean they will be subject to the same limitations as the current CPU transistor density? Will they start out on an older process to save money and then transition down to a smaller process for a lot more heads?

Yes, current platters have data on both sides.

The entire platter moves while the head doesn't. Your point is moot because that is what happens today with rotation disks. This design will least match the rotational HD but has the possibility of beating it.

Not really. It is more like HDD vs SSD vs RAM vs Thumb Drive. Each have the benefits and uses.

Until they fix or find a way around the gradual decline inherent to the nature of flash memory/SSD, i will not be replacing my HDD with one.

HDD have the problem with eventual motor failure yet you still use one. If the Flash wear rate allows it to last 5-7yrs.... does it really matter?

I meant to where the flash apparently reduces in quality/speed as time goes on. I read that around the forums somewhere. Maybe i'm jumping on false conclusions?

In actuality? No.

For a crazy induvidual like myself that gets new hard drive every year? Yes it needs to last more then 7 or else the next person I sell my drives to could complain about them dying! 7 years from now >.>
