please, stop referring to Lynnfield as i5. One is i5 (more to follow most likely) while the other two are i7.
The Lynnfield (sub?)architecture does indeed have an inbuilt PCIe controller where Bloomfield (the current i7's) delegates that duty to the northbridge. This has pros and cons, because there will be less latency between the CPU and the GPU; unfortunately, this will make the CPU hotter, and there are also going to be less lanes available than there are on the Bloomfield/X58's.
