There's a difference between bait-and-switch and a mistake. A 15 dollar monitor is a mistake. marking it 115 then saying "no sorry, is 151" is bait-and-switch. baiting does happen, but you don't bait it as free or insanely far below the cost of the parts alone. Why? In case you get caught. generally they'll bait right at cost or just a tad below it, then jack it up to a profitable area, just in case this happens so they don't lose big bucks.

I agree, if people kept the news on the down low, they would be enjoying their brand new monitors they bought for an extreme bargain. If the orders were canceled (which doesn't matter to me if Dell does cancel it, or they are forced to honor their corrupted pricing) then the people who have loud mouths should blame themselves, and no one else.

The price difference from intended and accidental price is $133 USD and 140,000 monitors were ordered at the accidental price, so Dell would be losing $18,620,000 USD here.

There's no way in hell that Dell should be forced to sell these monitors at a total discount of eighteen and a half million.

Yeah, Dell better fight this, because those disclaimers ARE binding when you try and buy from them.

It's false advertising, pure and simple. Dell offered it at that price, and doing so drew people to their site, they have to deliver.

They didn't offer it on purpose. It was a pricing error. In the disclaimer on Dell's website, it says:

They are still making money. Not as much as they are losing, but it isnt a straight loss. I wonder how much the most generic 19 inch display REALLY costs Dell to make these days. Id say 15-20 sounds about right.
