No, but that doesn't answer why eSATA would "hopefully" be killed.

Yay USB 3.0 .... wait....
__________________current hard drives won't come close to utilizing the available bandwith (they don't use the bandwith available on sata 3gbs, SSDs come close...) Performance wise we won't see a difference with external hard drives until they catch up to SSDs (or SSDs become the dominant for of storage), so the only difference between eSata and USB is USB can carry power (which is really cool if it can carry enough power to power a HD/DVD/whatever... Think about cutting down on case clutter! routing 1 wire instead of 2... now that is cool ![]() but until we see devices begining to catch up to available bandwith... we will not see performance increases over eSata

what would the use of the USB 3.0 be ? would be only to make HDD transfers a bit faster ?
__________________most of the pendrives only transfer 20mb/s... now a day... what use can be done by a 600MB transfer ??? ooohh.. i get it.. would be for when the SSD external are afortable and the transfers would go up to 200mb or more.. am i right ? :S PS: would we see USB 3.0 pendrives faster than 30mb/s ??

mb = megabits Notice the capitalization. USB 2.0 currently has a bandwidth limitation of 60 mB/s, so it's not going to be any different for your pendrives. USB 3.0 has a bandwidth limitation of around 500 mB/s.

It could be used for bandwidth intensive applications, like external graphics cards.

what is the % of users with external Graphic cards ?
__________________0.000000000000000001 is my guess... (is not a bad idea for gaming notebooks or use them as GPU rendering/etc) but i don't think we will see high end gpu for external use. plus it would need a lot more that 500ish mB/s

USB 3.0 latency and overhead will prevent it from being used for external graphics cards or primary HD interconnect.
