I'll stick to my 2 1th WD blacks, they are quick and speedy, too bad intel Raid 1 brings them right back down.

So it wouldn't make a difference anywhere? At all? In any program? Alright.

No in fact I don't think even the best 7200rpm hard drive can saturate SATA150 even on burst.

It was sarcasm. In some program somewhere it will make some sort of difference. I'm not trying to make a point that it would be a big difference, but there would be SOME difference.

No realworld program can be create will allow a sub-1.5Gb/s hard drive to transfer data faster than 1.5Gb/s. The only think I could think that could is if you for some reason load data into the HD's cache and repeated only access the data from the HD's cache. However, you would have to force a program to do this since the OS will have place that bit of data in primary system memory.

SATA is an interconnect. It connect your drive to your controller. How much data that can be pushed through is dependent on the drive itself. If the drive can't push data fast enough to use up the bandwidth, doubling the avaliable SATA bandwidth does nothing.

Analogy: it would be like asking a 9600GT to saturate the x16 PCIe interconnect.

I disagree. My 3200AAKS can get ~200MB/s burst.

What benchmark?

Also, is Write-Back Cache enabled? If so, that burst rate is from to the main memory access and not from the drive.

no idea if write-back cache is enabled; benchmark is HD tune 2.55 set to maximum accuracy and 64KB block size.
