I went with a Psystar system for a friend who liked Apple's OS, but did not want to pay the price. He got a 9500gt, Q8200, 4gb of ram and 2 500gb hdd's and some other bs for under $1000. So far, no issues.

I bought an Apple setup from them (Their Midtower one) for 900$ & 3 year warranty. Much cheaper than apple, and my Grandma can still keep the same OS as her PowerMac G4 laptop.

Surprisingly enough, Leopard runs about the same on both of them. It's not until you open up a large portion of apps that anything changes speed wise. On they keyboard level that is.

Does grandma run a lot of apps?

I'd really consider one if I ever had a need for Mac OS in the future. Nice systems...

They are, I never cracked it open to check the board out though. I want to once the warranty runs out....(patiently counting the days)

And no, she doesn't. She has iWork/iLife open. Internet, & sometimes she launches up Solitare or small games like that.

But she's at a 3 app limit from her Pentium 2/Windows 98 days. (A computer she got for free from Monsanto when she retired.)

She is probably doing better than my grandparents. I built them a system with a 4200+ 2 years ago, and the only app it runs is internet explorer and solitaire.
