Because not everyone sits the same distance from their monitor, the sensor comes configurable for anywhere between 30cm and 120cm, and is completely independent of the host system's software or operating system.

Sounds awesome, my brother has a bad habit of keeping the monitor on. I, on the other hand, have a habit of turning them off when I am not using them.

Cool, but how do they tell a chair from a person? I'm guessing by motion sensor but that means you got to keep moving to keep the monitor lit.

Stupid. Monitors use a minuscule amount of power as it is. This thing will save you a watt per day if you're lucky, so in three years, you'll have saved about 11 cents on power (1 kwh).

Oh well, I'm sure the greenies will snatch it up.

My monitor uses 70-100w...
