My first retail purchase of an aftermarket CPU cooler was a Zalman CNPS9500, in all its copper glory. The cooler was rated really well at that time and only bested in the Zalman lineup by the 9700 series of coolers. Back then Zalman was banking on a cooler that radiated fins from the center in a “barrel” style. This has seemed to have worked, as Zalman not too awful long ago released the CNPS9900 LED cooler. This was an adaptation of older tech with improvements made to improve efficiency and looks.

This time around Zalman is stepping out of the circle and into a square. What I mean to say is that they are now taking cooling technology they already had and delving into the more squared tower coolers. This tower cooler has a few already seen features, but debuts a new take on the older Fan Mates that used to ship with their products. That with a basic sturdy cooler design hopefully packs quite a punch for their first forte in tower cooling, to my knowledge, ever.

They should really show their results in ranked order, it's harder to compare coolers when you're just staring at nonsequential numbers.

Anyways, looks like zalman might be getting back in the game here with by shying away from the circle design.

This is how coolers should be. Performs optimally out of the box, not after lapping, bolt-mod, washer mod, etc etc.

Ive always been a fan of Zalman. They have always worked well for me. Ill be getting one of these in due time.

Who said it doesn't perform any better after being modded? Sure, the stock thermal paste included is fine, but AS5 is even better.

Just another overpriced cooler from zalman. At the $80 price point, it should beat the TRUE and Megahalems, yet it doesn't.

Performance is worst than the Noctua NH-U12P, costs more than the Noctua NH-U12P and louder than the Noctua NH-U12P.

It's not like the TRUE will make your computer catch fire if you don't do those things. I'd rather a dull piece of gold than a shiny piece of lead.
