Default [Fud] Drop single-core Celeron for dual Atom

Quote:
Intel is full of new / old ideas. Any given big company likes to dominate the world, and Intel is definitely not an exception. Therefore they are telling their customers that they should drop the system sales of single core Celeron.

System integrators and OEMs are selling micro-ATX based motherboards and a single-core Celeron processors and they usually sell them in rather unattractive micro ATX towers. Now Intel tells these vendors to sell Atom-based dual cores in smaller form factors (sub 8.5 l), and in smaller and more attractive cases.

Dual-core small nettop Atoms should create an entirely new market, as people still get surprised that a desktop can be so small and cheap.

Also, Intel promises to reduce BOM (Bill of Material) and increase OEM profitability during the economic crisis. (Yeah right Sub. Ed.)

1x Zotac ION N330 Atom dualcore
1x Setfsb
Equals almost what you want, exept a 9400GS I think
Oh and if you meant a netbook, just wait for the ION ones to come out

What's not to like about it? Crazy cheap PCs that consume extremely low amounts of power. I'm about to buy a cheap Atom board for use in a small storage server I'm building. $65 for the board/CPU (single-core, dual would be way overkill), $40 for case/PSU, $160 for 2x1TB HDDs. Not too bad considering I get a whole other PC I plan on using as an OpenVPN server as well when I get the LAN setup at my new house (read: Gigabit LAN in every room)

Or they could go VIA or even AMD for more power and less money in the same platform. Doesn't AMD have a low power version of the Athlon X2 that costs less and outperforms the Celeron?

We already know the VIA Nano puts it to shame.

VIA's Nano and Athlon cost more... Intel can pump Atoms out for less than $8 each.

Intel finally realized that Atom was gonna cannibalize there Celeron markets anyway.

To answer most of your questions: (1) a fridge cannot cool a PC (2) 64-bit OS for over 3.4GB (3) If a PCIe card fits, it should work (4) Resolution, not screen size (5) If you have a question, it is not news (6) Report, not respond to Spam (7) Single-Rail/Non-Modular PSUs are not always better than Multi-Rail/Modular
