You have to remember that the GTX 295 was designed with a $750 price point in mind.
Remember the GTX260/280 were what.. $400/$600 price point cards at release?

NV could not sell the 295 at its desired price point, so they sucked it up and took a loss until the redesign.
Now they want to maximize their profit while they can.

Really hard to do IMO, the 48070X2 for $200 less in some cases is the far far better option.

I mean you get nearly the same performance, sometimes better performance for $200 cheaper with the X2.

And believe me in actual game play, you could not tell the difference.

Couldn't agree more with you. Nvidia's cards are way to over priced over ATI.

Very true! The 4870X2 is a great card and with it at a new $350 price point it is almost pointless to go with a GTX295 unless you are a diehard fanboy or folder

I don't see anything from Nvidia claiming that the single PCB GTX295 performs better

Anyway, it's a pity that Nvidia's not dropping their prices. Can't blame them though. Gotta make money instead of losing it.
I don't like how the Single PCB's cooler dumps heat into the case and makes temperatures overall hotter :/

It allows lower temps for the card at least. Each GPU gets cold air instead of only one.

Well, when a company releases a newer version of a product, performance gains are usually implied.

They shouldn't bother with remakes and rebrands...
Why not making the development of the GTX300 series number one priority?

Even if the price is the same Nvidia saves allot of work making it single PC, thus saving money for cutting the PCB price in half.

The single PCB 295 is R&D gone live for the GT300.
What better way to tweak the fab process than with a working card.

You honestly don't think NV will do the sandwich design again, do you?
