5C is ridiculous though. In any normal (well, OCNer/enthusiast) case the difference would be liekly around 1C, unless your Southbridge is more affected. That's understandable. When I put my hand in my case, it cools it down. never got how anyone's case can actually stock heat. I've only used mid to high end cases though, so I can't speak for the smaller towers.

They need to make a cooler like the 4870x2 has on it.

That's the same cooler most cards have a stock, and the same style the old GTX295 had? Hmmm.... Probably wouldn't of worked well on this card. They have engineers who figured this design was better, and that's good enough for me.
Still phobic of microstuttering though, so you won't see me near any dual-GPU card.

Dual-PCB GTX 295 comes with dual DVI+HDMI interface, while the single-PCB version offers dual DVI connectivities only, which means you’ll need a adapter to enable HDMI output.

Sure the single PCB is cheaper to make and all but it's still the same card fir us.

I am wondering if the Single PCB suffers less from microstutter than the Dual PCB.
O.O

50-100W of extra heat being dumped into most cases, even enthusiast ones, will raise temps by more than 1C.

I have one of these in my case ATM, and the sandwich I'd been running before is now sitting on my desk ... for sale.
This new card runs much cooler, by about 6-7C at idle, and at least 10C on load. The noise level is *considerably* lower as well, esp. at idle, but even on load it's quieter. It also overclocks 37MHz (675 -> 712) higher on core, and 36MHz (1476 -> 1512) higher on shaders. Max mem clocks are the same. It's of a 'cheaper' build quality, and it lacks the Volterra VRM that the sandwich has ... but those are the only things that are not better about this new design. I don't miss the HDMI port ... somebody else might I guess, but ... it doesn't provide signal during post or boot-up, it's strictly designed to be used for hooking up a second monitor, so ... Both cards dump the same amount of heat into the case (it's just in a different direction - forward, instead of off to the side) and honestly, and NONE of the temps in my rig have even budged from how they were before ... except for my gpu being a lot cooler. Believe me ... I didn't WANT to like this card better than my beloved sandwich ... I got it just to play around with quad-sli for about 29 days (thanks Fry's!) ... and I'm gonna end up losing at least $100 to keep the Co-Op and sell my sammie ... but honestly, this thing is really impressing me with better OC'ing, and MUCH better noise and temp performance. Quad-sli, though ... is not nearly as impressive ... And for the record, there's no difference in microstutter between regular SLI and a GTX295. I've owned them both, and if it's there, it's absolutely not noticeable with either setup. It's not even remotely like it is with quad-sli ...
