PC P&C's latest salvo in the war for your dollars is the Silencer 910W unit. Packing nearly a thousand watts into a silent package with an 80mm fan is a hard thing to do. Let's find out if they were successful.
It's based on the Seasonic M12D but the Silencer beats it in just about every performance measure. But PC Power's stubbornness strikes again .

No surprise, a great unit is killed by PC Power & Cooling's stubborness.

For that many cables, and that large of a unit not to pack a 120mm or bigger fan, and not being modular is just plain silliness.

It is he PC Power and Cooling way man. And my silencer has only a 80mm fan and it dose just fine.

The "Silencer" sticker is kinda ugly lol
(And the huge mass of wires sticking out of the PSU doesn't look too nice for people with cases that have poor cable management)

At least the thing is efficient


EDIT: I wonder why they don't move on to 80x80x38mm fans if they're so intent on sticking to 80mm?

Great performance. Sounds (har har) like something I'd buy if I had the option to manually adjust fan speed - trust me, I've had a unit that was eardeafening loud before.

Well, i have the 750 and it's got the same 80mm fan, and It's not any louder than my old HX520 was.. maybe I've never put a huge load on it like jonny did.. but still..

the loudest thing in my rig is my Radiator fans at 30 dba.. I wonder how loud that PSU got under the extreme load.

Different 80mm fan

The one on the 910W is higher output because there's more heat to dissipate

In seriousness though, it sounds more like the guy put an ENORMOUS amount of value on the name 'silencer' and then took extra points away out of spite. 4 points for noisy? Seriously? Eesh.

First, Jon's retired. Works at BFG now. Second, I don't run Corsair in any of my rigs. Third, I scored some recent Enermax units higher than the Corsairs. Fourth, when I see a name like "Silencer," I expect something less than a fan that doesn't go "fweeeeeeee!" at screaming high levels. Fifth, yes I'm serious about four points off for that.

You don't have to agree with my scores... they are my own opinion

I wasn't joking one bit about the volume level of that fan. It was louder than:
  • the three 12V high speed Adda 120mm fans in the aux loaders
  • the SM-268's 120mm AC 2100RPM wind monsters
  • the 80mm high speed exhaust fan in the hot box
  • the 120mm medium speed helper fan in the hot box

Combined. That's not a "Silencer" to me, unless by silencer you mean able to make everything else in the room seem silent by comparison.
