Regardless of some of the dates on these items, more of this info should be available so we as consumers can call out companies who are unfairly charging us.

the prices are for parts... the auto manufacturing machines really cut cost in labor. my dad builds machines to do things like this and they pump out crazy numbers.

PS3 @ 804 damn they were stupid, dont flame me, im just saying why do that when you could go with proven tech for cheaper and probably won the console wars since developers would love blu ray and a regular CPU!

and yet they were making 400 of the imac... which isnt much since they give you tons of free software and warranty with it...

yet people still buy stuff from bestbuy who has had markups on electronics upwards of 80% before?

why complain at apple for turning a profit and giving you something in return, while best buy and stores give you nothing extra in return...

I severely doubt the parts prices are what Sony or any high volume producer pays for these parts. I'm willing to bet at about 10-50% less per part (depending on the part).

I worked in aerospace for a few years, the price difference per part between buying 10 and 10,000 parts was routinely 20-50%.

True - Sony did say they were breaking even with the production so this is basically saying that is not true. The large quantity purchasing and even some in-house production probably cuts the cost of most of these way down.

But this only worsens my point about the Kindle. XD

Im not saying there arent companies that do this. I just think there needs to be more independent research done on what it truly costs a company to make their products. Thats all.

This exactly why Apple has not ever added an expandable memory slot to any of their products...

At least Microsoft and Sony know their products make money off the actual usage of their products. But no - not Amazon -.-
The consoles make their money off the peripherals and games and whatever online service(s) they provide like their store.
Amazon makes money on Amazon from the books - but they still charge that god damn much? Sickening. I love my Kindle, but anyone with half a brain and looking at the color-less LCD and plastic housing would know that they really didn't pay for what they got.
The Kindle connects you free wirelessly to the kindle store over a 3G network. Its like a cell phone. With no subscription fee the money for that has to come from somewhere.

Why would you do that when you can get away with charging an arm for additional built-in memory? .
