I don't own one, just going by what I just heard

Wow, I paid that $400 for my 16gb touch way back when, and Apple made more than 100% profit on it? My hatred for that company just reached a new level.

Amazon makes money on Amazon from the books - but they still charge that god damn much? Sickening. I love my Kindle, but anyone with half a brain and looking at the color-less LCD and plastic housing would know that they really didn't pay for what they got.
Agreed. No offense to you, my friend, but IMO the Kindle is (in some respects) a joke.

Yeah and what I don't get, most people here on OCN keep dissing the PS3 that it's too expensive and they want a price drop to justify it's cost. Plebs, work a little bit harder so you can afford a fantastic value for money piece of equipment.

They are NOT correct. iSuppli has never been close to guessing correct on anything. Microsoft has said numerous times what their 360 cost to manufacture and it's never even close to iSuppli's best guess.

Toshiba was willing to sell its first HD-DVD player at a loss in hopes of an early lead in the next-generation DVD battle with rival Sony.
Nothing says mistake more than a net $1 billion loss lol

And isn't selling a product at a huge loss for market share illegal? Anti-trust laws?

So "somewhere" it said that making a touch costs $36, therefore other claims must be false?

Only if it harmfully affects competition (e.g. Intel can't do it because its only viable competitor would go down under due to much smaller market share and resources/capital). Considering that both Microsoft and Nintendo are both more or less trouncing over Sony, I don't think they have much of a case
