i personally hold gigabyte in higher regard than asus. asus just seems a little shady to me. they make good boards, that's not the issue, I think my issue with them is mostly because of their pr. just seems to me like they're not at all genuine whereas I don't get that vibe from gigabyte.

Geez, Asus should've used at least 2.5oz instead of copying Gigabyte's 2oz. At least it'll sound better on paper.
I'm glad I switched over to Gigabyte.

AsRock = budget brand. Copper costs money. ASrock boards thus will not have tons of copper. Asus is the premium brand. Asus boards will have tons of copper if they see any benefit from it.

I remember everybody around here squawking about how great their Rampage and P5K boards were before the P45 chipset got big and the UD3P gained its reputation
. The change happend with the 2oz copper, so maybe it will work similar wonders for Asus too. I don't really know if it will mean that much, but I like that Asus is big enough move on past slander and try to follow the lead in innovations, if that buy solid capacitors. I wish PC Power & Cooling could do the same and finally ship modular PSU (but that is another argument for a different day.)

Whoever designed the NB sink as a fashion statement instead of a cooling apparatus deserves to be shot in the leg.

Whiz bang advertising or not, the gigabyte UD3P had the coolest NB and motherboard temps of any board I have owned (and I have owned many...).

Asrocks boards aren't the best, but they do get some credit when it comes to AMD boards (Unlocking Cores, Unlocking the 2MB of hidden cache in the 810, running SLI on a Crossfire board) they just have real bad cooling I guess?
Anyways I will forever like Gigabytes motherboards with copper, when I had my Intel build the Gigabyte board I used was amazing
