Yes, I know it plays ALAC [hence the LOD comment]. The only reason why people "don't move on" from the ipod is because it's extremely streamlined and widely supported. You hand a 80 year old an iPod, it takes them 5 minutes to get music playing. You hand them a COWON, although vastly superior in sound, they will not be able figure it out. Also, alll the third party support from accesories and programs, it's hard for +80% for the consumer base to switch.

cool, an ipod with a camera? will it be all ipods including the ipod touch? sounds like an iPhone lol. for the price of it it might be wise to just get an iphone. maybe its a marketing scam and thats what they want us to do afterall!!

No it won't. It'll look like crap because the camera is not good quality, just like all phone cameras. A good quality 3 MP camera would be better than a bad quality 12 MP as far as a phone is concerned.

IT WILL LOOK TERRIBLE

End of story. Downsizing will not make it look any better (well for the noise it will probably make it look better there. But it won't make a bad looking pic look good), stop thinking that. MP isn't at all related to image quality, pixel density has a more of a significance.

Why will the camera suck?
- It will have horrible optics
- It will have an extremely small and dense sensor (terrible for low light, any bump in ISO will completely destroy the picture with noise)
- It will have an extremely large DoF
