Honesltly i3 looks most promising at this time. All it's really lacking compared to i5 is turbo. So if they are cheap enough, they could be killer budget performers.

On the other hand, lacking turbo, and being of the same core as the higher up LGA1156 chip implies they will be the dregs of the platform, and may not OC all that well.

I guess time will tell.

i3's are going to be budget CPU's. I believe they will perform well as they are new technology and new architecture.

Clock for clock performance of the i3 isn't really in question. It will surely be superb.

How high i3 can clock is the unknown.

I thought the i3s were just a rebranding of current processors like the e8400...

Right now the next foreseeable processor to upgrade to on socket 1366 is the hexacore Gulf Town i9 processors.

And what do you mean all i7s be more than $1000? The 920 (which you have in your sig ) costs less than $300.

Gives good price range, i5 looks like good upgrade for C2D users without the higher cost of i7.

i mean there was a talk that the i7 will cost more and so only the extreme users will be able to afford it

i know 920 is like 300$ here but will the future i7 be more expensive and also will i9 work with my mobo in future or will have to buy a new socket board?
