As for the prices, agreed, the anticipated prices are barely $85-100 less than the Core i7. That's not a big enough difference to really qualify as a "budget" option. Unless the i5 boards are also $50-100 less than i7 boards. If you could grab an i5 board for $80 and the low end i5 CPU for $196, that would be a budget system compared to $170+ for an i7 board and $280 for the CPU. However, they still claim the i3 is the true "budget" line, so we'll just wait and see performance and price of those I guess......

I found this interesting

but the i7 can be installed on the LGA 1156 socket
That was very poor wording, and is what I have mentioned before about the confusion caused by Intel's choice to not only support 2 new sockets, but market the same brand name on both. It almost seems to state that you can buy a 1366 socket i7 and install it on a i5 board, and just lose tri-channel. Has anyone else heard of this? because I haven't.

What it means is that they will be selling i7 branded CPUs on the 1156 socket.......causing some confusion to those not paying attention.

I found that odd as well but I reported due to two websites corroborated the info. But It don't sound right to me too but I'm just the messenger and I did read twice before adding that into my report.

Hard to believe that they would have engineered triple sli 16s in a board that the cpu could not use. or maybe that is for the i7 option.

While the i5 has more in common to the LGA775 socket than the i7, the i5 is still going to be a winner with a lot of CPU Enthusists. The new i5 requires a completely different socket than the i7 due to the need for a FSB on the northbridge instead of on the chip as the i7 boasts, but the i7 can be installed on the LGA 1156 socket but will not have triple channel capability. (completely wrong) The new i5 will come out the same way the i7 did. A cheap version and a little more expensive version and ending with a Extreme version. I personally have not seen any overclocking result as the i5 is still waiting to be released but if I know intel, the 4 GHz barrier on this bad boy will be very easy to jump.
This new LGA1156 Board boasts the new P55 Chipset and DDR Speeds of 2133 DDR3. That is double of 1066 if anybody noticed. With the increased bandwidth of DDR3 and double the speed of 1066 DDR2 most people will not mind a bit about the fact that this board is NOT Triple channeled. No the i5 is still a dual channel individual but not not like any other guy on the block. It is my estimation alone that the new i5 will become the new sweetheart for PC Enthusists including myself. While I have been a loyal AMD customer for years this new board and the lower cost little brother of the i7 is gonna be a big temptation for me to not pass up.
So I present to you my OCN brothers and sisters. The new LGA1156 board from MSI.
Fixed...

Indeed.

Which sounds good, but remember how the SB is connected to the CPU (in fact it's not an SB but a PCH - NB and SB combo sort of) - with a slow "DMI" interconnect. No matter how fast the PCIe slots are transferring data, there would be a gigantic bottleneck between the PCH and the CPU. This is the reason Lynnfield has an onboard PCIe controller.

They never said that you get full x16 when all three slots are occupied though did they? A lot of AM3/LGA1366 boards have 4 x16 slots and when occupied it isn't x16 in all of them.. A manufacturer could put 8 on there and it still not give you full.

However it could just be for marketing. It shows that it has more compared to perhaps some of the others.
