^1156 does NOT support current "bloomfield" Core i7's. It will, however, support Lynnfield i7's.

Great Info Cheeze.. thanks for the INtel on the Intel. Rep Up.

Question. What do you think will be the difference in the Bloomfield and the Lynnfield i7, and which one will be a better processor?

While Lynnfield is meant to clock a lot better than Bloomfield, I think the big factor will be how much of a difference Tri Channel v Dual Channel will make on whether Lynnfield will be faster.

On Anand they did some tests with a Lynnfield chip and found it about to more than keep up with the Bloomfield chip.

Have a look at this arcticle

Sure i7's are the fastest out there at the moment but who spends $570+ on a processor..only way you need one of those is if you own a big business and really need that speed to save you money. People buy Intel because they see it more often and there more widespread, not because there so amazing and better at everything.

The 790FX-gd70 has everything but OC genie, hopefully MSI keeps releasing boards with these features, lub em

Why doesn't it have the ridiculous amount of caps on the board around the socket?

Yes Intel CPUs are pricey. Thats what a company does when they are the pinicle of performance. When AMD released the Athlon 64, which by the way stomped Intel's P4, they fetched a premium. People point the finger at Intel, but they follow sound business practices that AMD followed only a few years ago. And your statement about the $570+ i7 is grossly inflated. The retail price of the i7 920 is $279, and can be had for $199-$229 if you live near a Microcenter.

i7 920 for $199 at Microcenter:

i7 920 for $279 at newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115202

I think AMD and Intel both make a great product. I am only posting because I dont think you are giving Intel credit were it is due.
