not bad as the raider is $59.99

when it says switchable OPAMPS.. do we still have to pull em and solder new ones?

No you don't, they sit in DIP-8 sockets. Put in OPA-2132 opamps (pricey) and you're golden

Kinda feels odd for Auzen releasing such a budget product IMO.

With that X-Studio card, that's the first time Auzen tech have not used a Creative or a C-Media chip in a long time.
What exactly is this QSound thing they're heavily advertising anyway?
I only ask because :

That's an image I found on the official X-Studio.

And this is a photo of the front of a HiFi that I've had for the best part of 10 years.

The sound quality from the HiFi is exceptionally good though and I used to use it with my Audigy 2zs before the audio overhaul, so maybe it's a good thing.
Does make you wonder who has bought who and who bought what technologies over the years.
I remember it used to be a bit like a stereo expander, somewhat like a poor mans Dolby Virtual Speaker or CMSS-3D. But then again everything sounded awful with it turned off so perhaps it's for the best. :P

Its a form of positional three dimensional sound processing algorithm and was used in a lot of CPS-2 based Arcade machines.

isn't EAX up to 5.0 or something now? And these support up to 2.0?
