I don't know if it'll be worth the upgrade to me yet.... It's tempting though, will wait and see how the benches go. If it gets 4GHz on air stable, that's the selling point for me.

Well, it depends on the specifics of the chip. Does it have a new stepping? Or, is it simply a higher-binned chip?

Only time will tell...

Damn and I thought OCing my 940 to 3.70Ghz was pretty good. Now they've got stock clocks only 300Mhz away! No doubt, Phenom II is maturing quickly and they're getting better chips as the architecture improves.

Perhaps I'll make the 965 my first foray into DDR3...

The numbering scheme is golden,

Intel Core i7 965 ~= $1000 (3.2ghz)
AMD Phenom II 965 ~= $275 (3.4ghz)

I know that there's a difference here but to the general consumer, AMD looks pretty good

I mentioned this in another thread, the 965 will be great for new AMD builds, but I don't think its enough to pull the 940, and definitely the 955 crowd to buy it. I'll be waiting for the "975/985" 3.6 stock might be enough for me to buy a new cpu since 3.6GHz takes me 1.4v By the time I'm done saving money for a down payment on a new car, AMD should have something new out, hopefully!
