Get a G1, unlock it, choose whatever carrier you want, flash a custom rom if you want, do some updates, BAM, you're done and you don't even have to mess with Apple.

I'm surprised to see that there really aren't any phone-tech-savvy people on here. I have an old T-Mobile Wing that I flashed with a custom, high RAM-leftover based ROM, and I added an iPhone theme to it, with all the bells and whistles. And I even overclocked it.

I wouldnt mind owning an iphone (id jailbreak it like my friend's) but I cant stand ATT. Their service is non existant where I live. Sprint/Nextel/Verizon all have perfect signal all over my city, Tmobile is so so. Some reason they have better signal than att even tho they are both GSM..

I like this article. My friend just got the myTouch 3G form T-Mobile here in the US. It's awesome. I have the iPhone 3G and I think they both have comparable pros and cons.

I own the iPhone 3G. Yeah, I may about 120 bucks a month to use it, but without this phone, I wouldn't know what to do lol I'm able to work on my website, post blog entries with the WordPress app, post to Twitter, use Facebook, enjoy the use of a great touchscreen keyboard, dock it in my car and have an awesome MP3 player, look up Wikipedia entries, use eBay, Shazam is free (it wasn't on my last phone).. and.. I feel like the updates made to the phone's OS are good and help with its functionality. I think that when the population that uses the phone growls at Apple enough, they finally succumb to our demands and add that feature we've been begging for. I mean, they finally gave us copy+paste, and it's very functional.

AT&T has been a great service to me as well. I can't complain at all about them, except for the price. But, I'm comfortable and happy with my iPhone, and therefore I am willing to pay a little more.

I will probably look into an Android phone later this year if AT&T doesn't hold up to their claims that MMS will be here by the end of summer. So, don't let me down AT&T.. I am getting tired of emailing photos..
