Its probably one of the best paintjobs you can get unless you have experience, and also the price won't go down as this is a service :P

I would do it myself though (paint), or just wait for 3rd party housings although nothing beats the original housing

The paint job is based on your original housing as far as I can see, I bet it will be a really good paint job that they are doing. Too bad it's expensive and not as configurable as I wish it is. It would be much better if they can print your personal logo or picture on to the console from a PNG image or something. If they do that I will get my PS3 painted from them.

On the other hand, I think it's only a matter of time before Sony officially release PS3 Slim in other colors. They released the Gunmetal and White PS3 fat in Japan and Asia area. And in the past they also had special edition PS2 released, I have a Gold Hayakushiki PS2 that I bought from Japan.

Colorware uses their own proprietary paint and plastic coating. It looks amazing.
