The supposedly illegal part (currently) is the fact that PsyStar buys retail copies of Mac OS X and pre-installs them on the machines. If they didn't do that, Apple would have no case. According to their EULA, they do have a case.

If PsyStar would sidestep that part, things would be a-ok. For Apple's part, they are being retarded. If they were smart, they would get out of the workstation and/or laptop game and partner with people like PsyStar.

Certify the hardware, lower their own costs and let PsyStar handle the distribution. Certified hardware means that Apple can still safely field tech support calls.

You do realize you still have to update mac EFI firmware right? Out of date EFI firmware is very bad for ou especially with bugs. And new software from apple only supports newer versions after they come out. You would be out of luck.

Reading this has made me want to build a "hackintosh".
