You guys ever see the Nuke powered plane the US military flew, seen it on the history channel they only made one because it was to unsafe if it crashed.

The radioactive isotopes used in these batteries could not be used in nuclear weapons. Even if they isotopes could, the battery alone could not due to its size, and the lack of a detonator for it.

I can imagine that given a proper shielding around these, they would be perfectly safe even in your pocket.

Alpha radiation is stopped by clothing and/or skin. Beta radiation can burn you but again, it can be stopped by something as thin as clothing, paper, or foil.

Nuclear disinformation has, IMHO, crippled technological advancements. Nuclear/radioactive doesn't immediately mean cancer, death, burns, fission, nuclear explosion, etc.

Hmm. I wonder what the radiation from batteries + the normal cellphone signal does to a man's junk. I can't imagine that would be good, but 6 million days on standby? Wow, that'll last an entire lifetime. (16,853 years. My iphone lasts about a day on standby.)

This. My career in the AF deals directly with nuclear materials and radiation. I highly doubt that they would release something to the public without first ensuring that it was encased somehow as to not allow the alpha/beta emissions to hurt someone. We have all kinds of equipment that contains radioactive sources, yet is completely safe to operate because of the casing.

Anyone can put together a Radiological Dispersal Device (dirty bomb), it's really not as hard as one might think. So people who automatically jump to that is just paranoid.

It's not a question of if, simply when these will become part of every day life.

Just a note.... More deaths would are expected from the panic then the bomb itself...
