Scientists will always find their way around problems that's why they're scientists.

Yes, but 1000 computers could each calculate similar things and when one found the result you were looking for you could use that result. Now, replace computers with "cores".

Sure, maybe the way we think of CPUs right now might hit a 'speed limit' someday, but couldn't we just get bigger at that point?

I guess theoretically a CPU would get so large that the time it would take to send the desired result would exceed that of the other "cores" finding that result on their own.

Anyway..../story

So the electrons move at the speed of light. When do they 'surpass' it?

Exactly - You can be limited by light speed but light doesn't take much space. So there canbe millions of light rays in a small space.

I wonder how quantum computing could weigh in on this. I'v spoken to a few physicist's about quantum entanglement and since it is not bound by the laws of physics, instant unlimited data transfer over any distance is theoretically possible. So I wonder if instant data transmission within a computer could make the speed of light irrelevent.

70 to 80 years?

You really think that by then we'll still be restricted by these "unsurmountable limits"?

Don't make me laugh.
