Now, while Grandma isn't going to be making any LN2 runs, she will be keeping that thing forever...a poorly loaded could result in system crashes and premature failure of the chips even at stock.

This will be a nightmare if any of the boards Foxconn ships to the OEMs is affected.

I just can't see how there not making contact. I could have sworn I was going to break the socket getting the lever down. It was harder than anyway motherboard before to push it down. Including lga 775, am3, and 478. Although the 2 last ones aren't lga. Honestly I think lga is stupid anyway. I'd much rather bend a cpu pin then a motherboard pin anyway. Who's stupid idea was it to have lga.

Because its mainstream. You can still overclock the chips a good amount without 1.4v, so just stop worrying. These are suicide runs anyways.
Very incorrect. It has nothing to do with the motherboard, but with the CPU socket used. I'm not too familiar with the subject but the Tyco AMP and Lotes sockets don't exhibit these problems while the Foxconn ones do. No motherboard manufacturer knew this, and for this reason even a very high end board like the UD6 can have socket burn happen to it. It has nothing to do with being a "budget board" or not.

I see a problem here...
Overclocking is not covered. And I doubt this problem happens at stock.
So what is anyone going to do about it?
Go i7 920 I guess.

Sometimes I wonder the same thing, but LGA is more convenient for Intel, because there processors cost more than boards, usually (Unless your talking X58, where everybody buys the 920) though when I was using my Phenom II X3 720, I usually spent more on my motherboard, but it was for features i'd never use, (4 PCI-E slots, Lol)

There's a good chance your socket is Tyco AMP or Lotes.

Na. I checked it yesterday. It says foxconn on the backplate. I heard there was a revision of the socket. So maybe I got another version. Who knows. I'm not going to sit around and not use my board though.

Same here, I had to take out the CPU and double check I had put it in the right way... I'm really temped to remove my block and check for burn since I've ran over 1.5v through this already, it's still running fine and I'm low on TIM though so I guess it can wait... ignorance is bliss huh

I checked mine yesterday. I didn't see anything. I've already ran several linx, and super pi and 4.5ghz.
