Yes, but think of how many of the sockets are manufactured by Foxconn, meaning that if Gigabyte uses foxconns socket..its affected as well. Foxconn makes a lot of parts for most motherboard manufacturers.

Well, I wouldn't be to concerned, and remember this is with EXTREME overclocking. Also, you should join the club I made, in my sig.

Never liked Foxconn and i still don't. Hell, i'd be concerned just running a Lynnfield at 4GHz..

Read about this over at EVGA a while back, pretty sure shamino experienced the same thing, no need to worry unless you are pushing some serious vcore through it.
__________________EDIT: actually I read it here - http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...cket-burn.html And after reading that other article, seeing that some pins do not make proper contact is worrying.. I'm far to lazy to remove my block and check if mine is making proper contact though, if it dies, it dies

I think this is a symptom of extreme overclocking. Most of these chips are useless after their suicide runs anyway, the difference here is not that it is damaged, only that the damage occurred at the socket.
