Overall, they did have a loss, but the AMD product group made a 2 million dollar profit. Isn't much, admittedly.

Here's a quote from BSN that explains it well.

Quote:
If we take a look at AMD Product Company only, the company posted its first net profit since the acquisition of ATI Technologies, back in 3Q 2006. Yes, it was a very long time ago.

That last minute fire-sale of 60 day inventory for the ATI Radeon HD 4800 series to Apple was the golden ticket to profitability, with net profit being two million greenbacks. Non-GAAP income was 47 million dollars, mostly carried out by the graphics and chipset business. Graphics alone reported an eight million dollar profit, up from 12 million dollar loss in the previous quarter. This means ATI achieved a 20 million dollar boost in sales, and the trend is expected to continue - ATI is first out the door with DirectX 11 parts, and even though supply is tight at the moment, ATI has full quarter to sell their 5000 series parts. Coupled with bundling deals for one or two DirectX 11 games [BattleForge and DiRT 2], ATI could significantly help AMD to improve the bottom line.

O.o really? I can't stand Intels mounting, I think it's TERRIBLE, Like I can't even find words to describe their mounting system (Although terrible will do). I build PC's for clients and I almost always order a AMD cpu if it's a midrange PC just so I don't have to deal with the Intels heatsinks.

I mean I love intel, if anything I'd call myself an Intel fanboy, just not for their crappy heatsinks :P

It's really only the pushpins that suck, and the fact that their boards don't come with a backplate by default.

AMD is only still "in the red" because they are still absorbing the costs of aquiring ATI. With a net loss of only 128 million dollars, they will almost certainly be in the green by next quarter. Things are going extremely well for AMD right now, no doubt about it.

I seriously hope AMD will make their come back to the market, but at least these days they are doing well. I look forward to their 800 chipset and 6 core desktop CPU's.

Pushpin design is terrible, but im talking about aftermarket coolers
theres nothing for AMD just a small clip
i once had a tuniq fall off my mobo with the cpu still attached to my tuniq cause the mounting was inadequate.
