because it has way more throughput, it's not fully utilized until the higher resolutions though. it's encoding the entire file but linearly, if the file is small then most of the GPU power isnt even being utilized.

p.s. ATi's results should increase big time when Stream 2.0 comes out. Stream 1 is really using code written by stanford almost 5 years ago.
