Nvidia and ATI already offer 100% scaling for two GPUs but it's very game specific. I very few people use more than two GPUs with 3 being the sweet spot in some cases.

Lucid also stated they're offering three versions of their chip which raised an eyebrow with me. Something tells me the one that performs the best will cost a pretty penny while the other two will probably offer the same amount of performance of traditional SLI/Crossfire technology.

The thing is, in some benchmarks it looks like they offer 100% scaling, but that benchmark does not always reflect the minimum frame rates, and is susceptible to micro-studdering.

According to whom, you? If you go here
http://forums.amd.com/game/

You will soon find out the 5800 series can't run mark3d vantage.
Maybe that's why the 295 is still the king? Until that changes on mark3d, the rest is all BS.
Read the amd game forums what a joke.
That's what they get for sticking to an older 256bit memory bus design. Choke

What? Do you realize that GDDR5 is twice the bandwidth as GDDR3? GDDR5 is quad pumped rather then dual pumped, so a memory clock of 1,000mhz is 2,000mhz with GDDR3, compared to 4,000mhz with GDDR5. Also the bus width adds a bit of cost to the board, making it only 256bit compared to 512 bit is quite a lot cheaper.

Yea DDR5 is a big jump from DDR3, 256bit is just fine so I don't know on what you are basing your comments on.

GTX300? And if what I hear is correct fermi is going to be very expensive and made for servers. I can't see nVidia giving up the gaming market that easily because if they make cards for servers and not for gaming rigs as found on OCN then ATI are just stealing the market straight from them surely?

Just my opinion.
GT300 aka Fermi will be expensive but still run games. it can do anything. it will run games faster then HD5870 and 5870 X2(that pitiful card) folding, and workstation

I would be very surprised if it is faster than a 5870x2.

Oh, that's right...

Come on, man, wait for the GT300 to come out and then make conclusions.
