As for myself I was a Nvidia Fanboy for years. Then I went to buy a Geforce 9800 card and it ran me $150. At that time ATI had the 4850 for $100 I bought this instead and you know what its good just as good as any Geforce I have owned. The thing that makes it better is it costed me $200 for a crossfire setup and not $300 for SLI as some1 else said it comes down to $$$ Same went for My cpu this time around I was using a Pent D 3.2. Went to upgrade to a quad Qxxxx series or Phenom. Then came out Phenom 2 and I7 Again price tag sold me a chip $$$

AMD hasn't released many cpu's this year with high overclocking room on air. IE 955s run out of room at around 3.8 GHZ and peak out max of 4~ , while Intels i7 at 2.66 seems to overclock fairly well all the way to 4.0. I understand that stock for stock the AMD is probably more powerful for gaming, though I honestly shouldn't compare a Phenom II to a i7 though, they're completely in separate leagues. Even AMD said the PII is only suppose to compare to Core2quad. It's not about affordability. If you need a moderate cpu for cheap a i5 even outdoes AMD's flagship cpus for the same price. don't get me wrong, I like AMD, but they need better developers to keep up with intel! I do understand AMD makes upgrading easier though, I respect them for that.
