More like marketing. When your opponents product hasn't come out yet, try to convince those that are still waiting to switch to your product. You have to do this from all angles.

And 003, didn't mean to rep you. I meant to report the post but I failed, so congrats you got a free +1! And because I felt like an idiot, I decided against reporting the post.

EDIT to include this:

Yo I rep'd you so that you don't feel like such an idiot, if rep points mean that much to you.

and yes that's exactly what AMD is trying to do. Talking so much trash to try to get customers to switch now.

The thing is, by selling lots of Quadros (which a lot are used to develop games) they still have to keep up the gaming GPUs. If a lot of those games are made for the PC, then the market is still very large because, essentially, Nvidia is helping to make games which need good graphics cards to run.

Basically if they slack off, we are all going to be screwed with ATi rising prices.

What fear?

AMD is talking about gamers here.

A typical gamer is going to spend $100-300 on their video card, which is a market that nVidia can barely even compete in.

Right now AMD has the 4850, 5750, 5770, 4890, and 5850 as their primary market. What does nVidia have? The GTX 260 and GTS 250, both of them are badly overpriced compared to what you get from the Red team. They've completely dropped the GTX 275, GTX 285, and GTX 295. The only cards left in retail are the ones that simply don't sell.

nVidia isn't even in fear mode right now, they are in a blind panic because they can't turn a profit to save their lives and their next generation architecture is still a long way off, and with all of the extra GPGPU stuff they crammed into it, I doubt its going to compete on a price/performance level.

Lol. Thanks for the rep. I usually try to get it by helping, but being stupid is new! Sounds like a valid reason to me!

And yeah, it may be a less mainstream way of doing things, but business is business. I'm glad AMD/ATI is finally stepping up their game a bit.

I can't help but be inquisitive as to how people can be so blind. The only conclusion I can come to that it is willful.

Do you even realize how Nvidia's financials compare to AMD's financials presently? If you think Nvidia is doing poorly financially (which they really aren't), then AMD is infinitely worse. In fact, it really is surprising that AMD hasn't filed for bankruptcy yet.

Call this trolling, but there are plenty of hard numbers to back my claim.

I find this to be true, but the thing is, games aren't the only thing to focus on, theres also the workstations. But nVidia doesn't seem to care much about DX11 or just doesn't have the ability to make DX11 cards..I mean they said in an interview, 'Why are you forcing DX11 on people so quickly' as a question towards AMD..well duh there going to work on DX11, its called technology..You improve it.

AMD should be far from scared, because they got there DX11 cards out first, and they perform extremely well with premature drivers.

Phenom II is pretty successful, and with the huge sales of the 57xx and 58xx series, I doubt they will any time soon.
