Fermi won't be at it's full potential either, I think it goes without saying really. The initial numbers are a good indicator of what's to come though, Nvidia needs to just hurry up and get some preliminary benchmarks out!

I wonder how true this is. We always see the most overall improvements in the first few driver releases for a new card but I wonder just how big the jump will be in this case.

Yeah, I myself thought all the benchmarking done a week after release will be irrelevant when new drivers blow the old ones out of the water. But like always, people like to see things 100% black and white, and believe that this is the card and this is what it does, plain and simple.
