1.) ATi didn't have enough cash to purchase every wafer TSMC could make

2.) Thus a shortage of HD5000's was created.

3.) Couple these factors with a huge demand of HD5000's, more so in the OEM market...on Oh look at that....we have a shortage.

It happens, nothing new.

Something like Global Foundries getting the ATi business, or TSMC increasing yeilds would help this. Not new nVidia cards, as they won't have a huge supply either.

20$? LoL

Look how much DDR2 increased. I bought my ram for 40$ (and they're not crappy sticks either) Yet now they're nearly 100$.

Just as planned.
1.) Raise price $20-50 over the course of the next three months
2.) Drop the price $75 when Fermi comes out.
3.) ?????
4.) Profit

Just another reason for me not to upgrade. I already found that the performance upgrades were not worth the money. I'm also assuming Fermi won't be that big of a deal either. Guess I'll have to wait until the end of 2010 or later to upgrade...
