Default [PCGH] AMD and Nvidia: Problems with 40 nm process at TSMC

AMD and Nvidia: Problems with 40 nm process at TSMC

Both, AMD's current as well as Nvidia's forthcoming graphics chips, are produced in 40 nanometer architecture in the factories of TSMC. Now the company confirmed problems during the production which caused the yield rate to drop to about 40 percent.

Fans of AMD's Radeon HD 5000 series might have noticed that the new graphics cards are quite rare at the moment. Furthermore there had also been a delivery bottleneck for the HD 4770 earlier this year.

meh. nothing wrong with a 4890. alternatively, get some 5770's.

although things dont look good for ati releasing the dual gpu variants.

4890 isn't 40nm, and what does that to have to do with the subject?

5770s are 40nm, they'd have the same problems iirc.

the 5870 is 2 times as fast as a 4890, that's why you'd want one.

i just meant there seems to be loads of 5700's in stock.

as far as the 5870/4890 thing goes... it's certainly not twice as fast. it matches a 295, and 4890's destroy 275's.

4890's are however half the price over here in aussieland

Why does everybody seem to be calling everybody else a troll lately? Yes, they had their info wrong but maybe they just need to be educated.

Maybe I'm looking at all the wrong benchmarks then Or are you talking about the highly overclocked 4890s? Because there are overclocked 275s too... Heck there is an overclocked 260 that will spank your 5850 quite easily
