any idea of when better steppings of the other chips will filter down the line? ie a C3 955

I'm sure the whole processor lineup will be switched over to C3, especially since the chips are all fabbed the same and then binned according to certain properties. So chips that are fabbed on C3 that aren't binned as a 965 will get binned as other chips.

I don't think the x3 series are going to get any c3 chips IIRC. If the quad is a dud it probably goes straight to x2 555.

AMD chips are known for high voltages for overclocks, but produce a lot less heat than Intel chips at the same voltage
