Default [HEX] GIGABYTE adds external NVIDIA GeForce graphics to Booktop M1305 notebook

Quote:
The system, pictured above, is listed as "coming soon" and comes bundled with a docking station equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 graphics card - allowing users to take advantage of a little extra graphical power when not on the road.

What's useful is that unlike the Atom-powered Booktops of old, the new M1305 is a well-spec'd system in itself. Sporting a 13.3in, 1,366x768 display, the notebook houses a choice of Intel's ultra-low-voltage Core 2 Duo, Pentium or Celeron processors, coupled with up to 4GB of DDR2 memory and integrated Intel 4500MHD graphics.

actually a good idea, in some cases. u don't need the extra gaming performance while at work, so leave the docking station at home. step ?: PROFIT!

I want to sneer at the 220, but it's probably geared for watching Blu-Rays and some casual gaming or something. It's a great idea, but I'd like to see a 240 version (at the least) down the road.

Hm... the 220 isn't even better the many dedicate graphics on laptops. I think I would rather get something with a 9600m and then just disable it in the bios. A 240 version would be very kick ass though. At that power real gaming can start.

This will be nice when they include much more powerful gpus instead of the gt 220. I want to see some desktop gpus in those little boxes, and then that will be the future of portable gaming laptops (because even carryinging aroung an extra little box to a LAN party is better than a mid or full tower case and a monitor).

4500MHD Intel integrated graphics is almost something like nvidia 220. So it's not much of an upgrade if you ask me.

Amilo graphics booster kicks its ass.

lol the 4500M HD isn't even close to a GT220. (And that's not saying much. Intel's graphics really do suck bigtime.)
